Mental wellbeing is important for both caregivers and the individuals they care for. Caregiving can be emotionally and physically demanding, and it is important for caregivers to take steps to maintain their own mental wellbeing in order to be able to provide effective care. This can include practicing self-care, setting boundaries, seeking support from others, and finding ways to manage stress. It is also important for caregivers to be aware of the potential for burnout and to seek help if they are experiencing symptoms such as chronic fatigue, loss of interest in activities, and feelings of hopelessness.

We all need good mental health and wellbeing – it’s essential to living happy and healthy lives. There are 7 areas of life where simple changes can make a big difference.

What is good mental health?

Looking after your mental health is not something you do just because you are struggling, or feeling low, anxious, or stressed. You need to think about your mental health all the time and really invest in, like you would for your physical health.

Staying on top of our mental wellbeing is good for us as it helps us deal with difficult situations in the future. Over time, it can also reduce our risk of physical health problems.
